Mutual Funds: More than 81 lakh people joined mutual funds, mutual funds increased their popularity, while people are turning away from FDs.
In the first two months (April and May) of the financial year 2024-25, the mutual fund industry showed its best efforts in the market by adding more than 81 lakh investors. This growth of mutual funds has been seen due to continuous marketing, celebrity endorsement and better performance of the distribution network.
The reason was the excellent performance.
Mutual funds have been in the news in the stock market due to their excellent performance and after this, the perception of fixed deposits (FD) among investors seems to have changed because one of the reasons for this is that FD is no longer able to give returns equal to mutual funds.
The number of mutual fund folios was 18.6 crores at the end of May.
According to the data of Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), the number of mutual fund folios in the industry was 18.6 crores at the end of May and this figure is 4.6 percent or 81 lakh more than 17.78 crores at the end of March, with this it is expected to grow further or keep pace. According to AMFI, an investor can have many folios.
Benefits of the market.
Trivesh D, COO of stock trading platform Tradejini, said that mutual funds strengthen the possibilities for the market, the stock market is booming or due to better risk management, investor education and better marketing, investors are joining the mutual fund industry more and more because investors are seeing the effects of long term growth in it.
Abhishek Tiwari, CBO of PGIM India Mutual Fund, estimated that with the increase in India's per capita income, investors will be able to increase investment in mutual funds to beat inflation and create wealth, this will increase the reach of mutual funds.
The number of young investors is high.
These days the number of young investors is increasing, one reason for this is the digital channel, due to which the youth of the country are more interested in it. Because AMFI has reported that most of the new investors are coming through digital channels, in all these figures, the number of young people is very high, out of a total of 81 lakh folios, about 61 lakh are in equity based mutual funds, due to all these reasons the number of folios has reached 12.89 crores.
