Increase in office working hours: Will employees have to work 14 hours now, how much overwork can workers do, what is the matter.

An average employee in India works 48 hours a week in the office. Now the Karnataka government wants to add 22 more hours to this working hours which will increase to 70 hours. What can be the benefit of this proposal? Will there be an increase in productivity or will India get a better standing at the global level regarding working conditions?

Karnataka's capital Bangalore is famous as Silicon Valley. The number of people working in the IT sector is around 30 lakhs. Along with this, Infosys, Google, Deloitte, Karnataka Government IT and IT ES In Formation Technology Enfield Service have been asked to work 14 hours. Now if this proposal gets approved, then the people living in Karnataka will have to work 14 hours in 24 hours, that is, they will have to work 70 hours a week. This is not only inhuman working condition but also against the International Labor Organization because this organization recommends working for only 9 hours a day.

Working hours in India.

People in India work for about 46-48 hours a week and according to this, India is at number three in the list of countries working the longest hours. Even after this, if the Karnataka government increases the working hours, then it is like causing physical pain as well as harm to mental health, perhaps that is why protests have started in the state of Karnataka.

Can the Karnataka government do this?

Yes, any state within India can make rules regarding its working hours because every state is eligible to make rules for its state at its state level, then only the Karnataka government proposes under the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1961 that there should be an increase in the working hours. But many people criticized this proposal of the Karnataka government and many people also said that this is a working attack on the workers by the Karnataka government. According to the report of KCCI Canara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, already 45% of the employees in Karnataka are suffering from mental health issues, depression and 55% of the employees are suffering from physical health issues. In such a situation, this proposal of the Karnataka government regarding work is like human torture.
