SEBEX 2: World's most powerful non-nuclear explosive is ready, Navy tested it, claims it is twice as deadly as TNT.

World's most powerful non-nuclear explosive was prepared in India, Navy tested it and claims that this explosive is twice as deadly as TNT. This is an explosive substance which has been declared twice as deadly as Trinitrotoluene (TNT), it has been named SEBEX-2 and this explosive is one of the most powerful non-nuclear explosives in the world.

This explosive has been in the news a lot because

Reports say that this explosive can revolutionize India's capability and its (SEBEX-2's) use in bombs, artillery shells and warheads will increase their destructive capability manifold, along with this its weight is also very less. Indian Navy has also certified the formulation of SEBEX-2 after testing.

Navy promoted export.

For testing SEBEX-2, the Navy conducted training under the Defence Export Promotion Scheme. This explosive was prepared by Economic Explosives Limited under 'Make in India'.

SEBEX-2 is twice as lethal as TNT.

TNT i.e. Trinitrotoluene which is the most popular explosive, can be said to be so lethal that the lethality of any explosive can be estimated by comparing it with it. The amount of energy released from the explosion in one metric ton (1,000 kilograms) is called TNT equivalent.

Use of lethal non-nuclear explosive.

India's most lethal non-nuclear explosive till date is used and is being used in the warhead of the BrahMos missile, which has a TNT equivalence of 1.50. The TNT equivalence of most warheads in the world is between 1.25 - 1.30 and the TNT equivalence of this new SEBEX-2 is 2.01, which means it is considered to be the most lethal non-conventional explosive till date, but the Navy and Economic Explosives Limited are still trying to make an explosive even more lethal than this.
