Public Examination Bill 2024: Public Examination Bill introduced in Lok Sabha, fine of Rs 1 crore and 10 years imprisonment.

 In the Parliament, Union Minister Jitendra Singh introduced the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill in the Lok Sabha on February 6. There is a provision in this bill that if someone leaks a paper in government recruitment examinations or gets it copied, then in such a case the accused will be given a maximum of 10 years. Will have to pay jail and a fine of Rs 1 crore.

 Provisions of the bill.

 The provisions of this bill are that if someone leaks a paper or gets someone cheated in the government recruitment examinations, then the police will have the right to arrest the suspects without any warrant and the accused will not be able to get bail for committing such a crime. Will not be abolished, but there is an exemption given to the competitive students that those children appearing in the examinations will not be targeted, who will not do so intentionally.

 Union Minister Jitendra Singh had introduced this bill in the Lok Sabha and said that crimes like leaking of question and answer sheet, helping the candidate directly or indirectly have been included in this Public Examination Bill. This includes illegal activities like creating fake websites to earn money illegally, issuing fake admit cards or offer letters.

 Provision for punishment.

 There is a provision for strict punishment in the Public Examination Bill, such as if the director, management or in-charge of the guilty institution is found guilty, they will be punished with imprisonment of 3 to 10 years, a fine of Rs 1 crore and 5 to 10 years for those involved in the crime. Punishment and fine up to Rs 1 crore can be imposed.

 Scope of the bill.

 This bill will not be applicable on state examinations and 10th or 12th examinations, there are many states where they have their own laws regarding cheating.

Laws made in states regarding paper leaks.

 Rajasthan- Life imprisonment for those who leak and copy papers.

 Gujarat - The culprits are sentenced to 3 to 10 years' imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1 crore and the person purchasing the paper is also sentenced to 2 years to 10 years.

 Uttarakhand - Non-bailable crime, punishment for the culprit ranging from 10 years to life imprisonment, fine ranging from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 10 crore.

 Haryana- 7 to 10 years in jail, fine up to Rs 10 lakh, provision to compensate for the loss by auctioning the property of the convict.
