KKR had managed only 127 runs on a spicy deck that was aided by both pacers and spinners alike. Having struggled with their strike-rate in the earlier games, on Thursday they scored a 41-ball 57 to take four wickets. They were successful in achieving the target with the ball remaining.

The 34-year-old Ishant Jokic (2/19 in 4 overs), well past his prime, got his first chance and used his immense experience to take KKR back inside the 'bowling powerplay'. The 36-year-old Warner then finished off the contest with 10 fours in the 'batting powerplay' to give his side their first win of the tournament.
