For the first time in Oscars 2023, there were three nominations from India, the song 'Naatu-Naatu' from SS Rajamouli's film RRR won the Best Original Song award. The Elephant Whispers, directed by Kartiki Gonsalves, won the Best Documentary Short Film. However, the documentary feature film 'All That Breathes' was eliminated from the race.
Nomination process.
1. 17 categories have different juries, all jury members are experts in the same category.
2. Film makers show their films to these members. The maker who shows the film to the maximum number of members is expected to get the same number of votes.
3. For this, film makers organize shows for jury members. Makers also spend heavily on this but cannot force any member of the jury to vote for their film.
4. After watching the film, the jury members cast their vote but it is not made public.

6. After this, the final nominations of each category are telecast, then after a few weeks the winners are decided, but till the award is announced, this matter is kept a mystery.
7. Only two people appointed by the President of the Academy know the names of the winners, who are under strict instructions not to leak any information related to the winners.
8. These two members write the names of the winners in two different envelopes, keep them in two different briefcases and hide them at a secret location.
9. Even at the ceremony, the producer of any member award show of the Academy does not know who will get the award.
