A target has been fixed to complete the construction of the new building before 2027. Session operation has been planned during the period of 18th Vidhan Sabha.

 The state is going to get the gift of a new Vidhan Bhavan soon, it was announced on Friday by Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna in the Assembly, as a token, ₹ 50 in the general budget of the financial year 2023, 24 A provision of crores has been made, for this the government aims to organize at least 1 seventeenth session of the 18th Vidhan Sabha in the new building.

 For this, the plan is to complete the construction of the building before 2027. The new building will be eco-friendly, earthquake-proof and equipped with modern facilities.

 The foundation stone of the present Assembly was laid on 15 December 1922 by the then Governor Sir Spacer Harcourt Batkal and was built in about 6 years. It was inaugurated in February 1928. It was constructed by M/s Martin & Co. of Kolkata. The main architecture was done by Sir Swinnon and Heera Singh and in this present assembly, for the time being, there is a seating arrangement of 403 MLAs, and in 1935, a separate chamber for the meeting and office classes of the Legislative Council was proposed.
